About Us

IMG_4040.JPG

Safety Matters began in 1995, with the mission to bring high quality and interactive training to a relaxed and fun occupational setting. Our first year, we trained 8 people. Today, we train more than 2,500 people a year in life-saving skills.

To us, this means much more than learning to count compressions. It is about teaching our community to respond in an emergency and take care of their neighbor, colleague, friend or family member with confidence. We instill the skills needed to improve survival because responding to an emergency is always better than waiting for an ambulance while doing nothing.

In 2019, we had a "changing of the guard" and Stacey took over ownership of Safety Matters, carrying on the tradition of customer-focused, site-specific training. Patti is now semi-retired but still an integral team member, serving as an advisor and instructor throughout the year.

Our commitment to our students is evident. Each year some of our students have the opportunity to save a life. These survivors are what motivates us to continually improve our process, stay up-to-date on the latest research and provide the best training practices in every course we offer.

Stacey Dickert
Owner & Instructor

Stacey began carrying manikins for Safety Matters as a kid and while still in high school, she was once the youngest CPR instructor in the state of Wisconsin.

Today, Stacey has more than 15 years of professional experience in safety and health and holds a master’s degree in Health Communication from Emerson College in collaboration with Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. Stacey has served as a speaker on first responder teams at both OSHA VPPPA and ASSE conferences. She also owns and operates RiverHouse Creative, LLC, a health communication consultancy in Milwaukee, WI.

While her enthusiasm for healthcare started early, it was her first phone call from a student who saved a life using CPR that ignited her passion for educating the public on these important life skills.
